PostSubject: New car model - in process   13th January 2011, 02:24

Ok I'm closing in on the finishing touches on my improvised new model b4 setup in 3dsmax, but it suddenly hit me...this thing looks like a friggin Porsche!! is that true, or is it just me?

Here's an un-textured pre-render. Am I right or am I right?
Don't go too much into the details, I'm crap at car "anatomy" scratch

If you want to do a completely new model, then I wish you luck, but if you want to be inspired by the already existing model, then upload the model itself as a background in 3D max, you'll be a lot easier and keep all proportions.

Nono, this was not intentional. I'm not trying to copy anything. this is all from my head with no pictures or anything as reference. That's the whole reason I was so surprised. I hate copying already existing stuff. That's something someone has already made, so why make it all over again. Only thing I've ever used a backdrop for was a human ear back in the day. If anything, I'd rather change it to look like something completely different. But then again, I'm proud that I managed to make something that looks like an actual car, so I'm still trying to decide where to go from here. Wink

I suggest you scratch a little and drew several versions, after watching more pictures (the best car drawings), then it will be easier to you to choose the right proportions. How can you go back a little, to the stage of the skeleton. Of course, a little more simplified skeleton, then it will be easier to make a very nice model car.
I know from experience that sometimes the better start to do some drawings, concepts before you take to create in 3D. Then you can use sketches as underlay. Smile

Nice to me, but I like dirt cars, so, bigger wheels which makes the model higher would look nicer I think. And no windows, but a dirt lookwith a net in it or so........... Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.
BUT, nice job already !
I think it is you creation and you should make it as you wish my top creator !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you give me more credit than I deserve, Cloud ^^ Obviously you assume I know what I'm doing, and that this is easy for me. I assure you, getting a model to look like this, for me, feels like I've climbed mount Everest. Never been more than a hobby. If there was any form of systematic process I had to follow, like drawing, making from reference etc. then I wouldn't be modeling at all. It's just too boring if i know what it's gonna look like before I start. Free fantasy ftw! Thanks for the advice though, but that's just not for me Smile

Oh and I've made several buggys, BG. Wanted to do something different this time.
